Positive Self-Talk Leads to Success
Good Things Come to Those Who Believe
-- By Leanne Beattie, Health and Motivation Writer

Most people are naturally motivated—even excited—when they begin a new exercise routine or adopt a healthier diet. You’ve got your goals set, a plan to reach them, and nothing can get in your way!

But as time goes by, the novelty wears off and your optimistic attitude can give way to feelings of doubt and dissatisfaction. Or even worse, you start comparing yourself with everyone else, mentally beating yourself up for not being as “good” or successful as they are. These negative thoughts and feelings are especially common when you’re not seeing results despite your hard work.

Sure, it’s much easier to fill your head with negative self-talk than it is to give yourself a mental pep talk. But the latter is exactly what you need to do in order to stay on track.

What you think about while you exercise, for example, affects whether or not you’ll finish today’s, tomorrow’s and even next week’s workout. If you can focus on the positives instead of the flaws when you look in the gym mirrors, you’ll be more likely to keep your appointment with the treadmill. But when your thoughts are negative or you’re comparing your thighs with someone else’s, you’re more likely to feel insecure and unmotivated, which means you’ll stop early and maybe not show up tomorrow. Researchers agree.

Are You Living in a Sanctuary City? PDF Print E-mail

From the desk of Lady Renita Payne

See full size imageAt first thought you may say, "Hmm…a sanctuary city? I know I have heard that phrase before." Yes, you probably have; it is actually an interesting phenomenon that has developed over the last 30-years in the United States. With the US being the land of opportunity, many have journeyed here for different reasons: freedom from bondage, opportunity for wealth and growth, or providing a better environment for their children. Whatever the reason, the US has been a beacon of light to the world.

Now the US has laws and regulations for immigrants. Every immigrant has the opportunity to become a legal resident of this wonderful country. Even though it is quite a lengthy process, it is worth it, because you are legally recognized by the government and have all the benefits of a U.S. citizen. However, there are those that circumvent the process and live here illegally. They flock to what are known as "sanctuary cities," cities that allow illegal aliens to reside without any legal ramifications or consequences. By now you are probably saying, "Gee, that's nice to know, what does this article have to do with sacred dance?" Glad you asked, it has everything to do with sacred dance and the body of believers as a whole.

As believers in Jesus Christ, He us adopted into His family through the sacrifice of His life. He was the beacon of light that bid us to come to life free of bondage, and full of opportunity in Him. Many have come seeking this new life, and are dwelling legally in the body of Christ. However, there are those that are dwelling in sanctuary cities in the Spirit. You see as legal resident in the U.S., you receive all the benefits and resources available to you, but at the same time, you have accountability to the government to fulfill your responsibilities. You have an obligation to pay your taxes, contribute to social security, and maintain the laws of the land. If you do not abide by those rules, you are subject to penalties and correction. Except if you abide in a sanctuary city…there is no accountability. While the lack of accountability may sound wonderful, the caveat is this, if you are caught doing anything illegal, you are subject to immediate deportation. In addition, while the concept of sanctuary cities was idealistic, in reality it has created untenable and anarchic situations that have taken a toll on legal U.S. residents.

Are you legal resident in the Body of Christ or are you illegal? Has your residency changed status lately, and to compensate have you flocked to a sanctuary city for refuge? Many have once been legal, following the principles of the Word, however, at some point choices have been made that led them down a path contrary to the path of G'd. It's easy to dwell in a place without accountability. Having no one to answer to, being able to live a life any way that you desire without consequence, yet receiving the benefits of salvation. Are you contributing to the untenable anarchic situations? Are you causing frustrations and disturbances in the Body of Christ?

1 Peter 4:17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

However, are you receiving the totality of what is available to you if you were legally in the Body? Would you rather live in a "sanctuary city" or in the "Tabernacle" where the presence of G'd dwells?

2 Peter 3:9-13 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

We should all take a moment to check our status with G'd. Are we legal with Him? Are you maintaining the level of integrity that is required of you as a resident? On the other hand, have you slacked and let issue after issue to build up, allowing penalty after penalty to accrue? Re-establish your status in the Body of Christ, receiving the totality of your benefits and freedom.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Historic Message by George Carlin

During a career that spanned five decades, Mr. Carlin emerged as one of the most popular, durable, productive and versatile comedians of his era. He was a comic who chafed at society and its constraints, He died at 71. Always remember, God can use anyone’s test or testimony to bring hope, reflection and opportunity if one stops, repositions oneself and desires truth. In our case Christ Jesus is Truth! Read His reflections below and listen to his heart! Here's to Health and Wellness! Blessings Lady Michelle Nurse, The Remnant!

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways
, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have we trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
